What is Performance Science?
We move, think, and make decisions every day as we go through life. In sports, these actions manifest as speed, precision, endurance, and concentration — all in an instant. Yet, performance is not always consistent. “Why couldn’t I jump as well today?” “Why was my reaction delayed?” The time has come to move beyond relying solely on intuition or willpower. Performance science is a practical discipline that seeks to quantify, integrate, and enhance the quality of human movement and reaction. By combining diverse data sources — such as training load (ACWR), output characteristics from jumps and SAQ drills, cognitive function, eye movements, and bar velocity (VBT) — performance science uncovers the root causes of underperformance and reveals pathways for improvement. Mobile Performance Lab
MPL is a next-generation mobile platform that leverages advanced image analysis technology to quantitatively and scientifically assess physical performance. Metrics such as jump height, reaction time, agility, and cognitive load indicators (e.g., sustained attention, working memory) — traditionally requiring specialized equipment or laboratory settings — can now be measured on a single device. All data are integrated and synchronized, enabling comprehensive performance evaluations. Applicable across a wide range of settings — from performance analysis in sports and athlete monitoring, to rehabilitation assessment, education, and research — MPL offers versatile and scalable utility. All measurements are based on algorithms designed with a focus on reproducibility and reliability, supporting team-based comparisons and longitudinal performance tracking.
